Praise GroupPraise and Worship Praise and worship is a big part in the life of Troqueer Church. It is because of this that some members would get together on an ad-hoc basis to learn 'special' songs for particular occasions. These varied from baptisms, weddings, funerals to being invited out to other congregations or groups. At this stage many of our songs were sung with parts for men and women or a descant, with much of it in unison. In 1990 it was decided to form what is now known as Troqueer Praise Group to continue encouraging those who enjoy singing to meet on a regular basis - weekly through school terms. This would allow us to increase the variety and complexity of the material we use, stretching the musical ability of each individual, although having a 'musical ability' is not one of the requisites for joining, only that you love to praise the Lord. Over the years we have seen many people come and go but one of the constant people has been our leader, Sheila Notman, who has 'encouraged', persuaded, and 'pushed' us, through blood, sweat and tears (I'll not say whose!!) to greater things. One of the highlights came in 1995 when we learned 'The Hallelujah Chorus' - in four parts. We have sung this on a couple of occasions but not as often as many of us would have liked too. We hope you enjoy fellowship with us and continue to walk day by day with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
