The Storehouse ProjectIt’s quite some time since we started our Storehouse Project and I would like to take the opportunity to remind people or even inform for the first time how it is intended to work. The idea is that when members are going to do their weekly shopping they pray that God will show them an additional item to buy. Our members have responded to this from dog food to tinned salmon and many things in between. Incidentally, a man did arrive at the manse one day looking for help and asked was there anything I could give him for his dog. Having purchased these items, they are then brought to church on Sunday morning and placed in one of the baskets at either side of the church. They are then taken over to the Centre and the team who is on that Sunday prayerfully make them up into appropriate collections. Names are then given to the team leader by the minister and then they are delivered around the parish. Our aim is to keep the service as private and confidential as possible so we don’t embarrass people. I have had several letters and cards from people expressing their thanks and some of them are quite moving when they say that the groceries arrived just when they were needed. We have emptied our storehouse at present and sent an amount of goods to some people who have been affected through the foot and mouth outbreak and so we are building up our supplies again, although we like to keep a steady turnover and would rather empty the store each week than build up due to lack of names. The success of the project is dependent on the minister being informed of any known needs in the parish so if you hear of anyone who could benefit then please let me know. (Tel. 253043) Our aim is to be a giving church and bless where most needed. Sincerely, Billy Kelly
